Banana Boat Advanced Protection is a broad-spectrum SPF100 sunscreen lotion, the highest factor commonly sold. SPF100 filters roughly 99% of UVB radiation against about 97% at SPF30, a difference that only becomes meaningful over long uninterrupted exposure, which is exactly the case for outdoor work in tropical latitudes. Water and pale surfaces reflect UV and can effectively double the dose received, so anyone working on or near water needs more protection than the same hours inland would suggest.
