A straightener designed to be used on damp hair, with vents in the plates that release steam as it passes rather than trapping it against the hair. That is what makes wet straightening safe on this tool and unsafe on a conventional one, where trapped steam scalds the hair shaft. The practical benefit is time: it removes the separate blow-dry step from a routine. Results on damp hair are slightly less sleek than straightening fully dry hair, which is the trade.
